Every summer, we’re blessed with a whole new hoard of great hairstyle trends to try out. It’s definitely the season of hair! From crazy dye techniques to new ways of styling, we look forward to what’s on offer every year. It definitely inspires us to be a little adventurous with what we do! This year, we’ve found hairstyle trends that were just born for us extension-loving ladies. At Spectrum One, it’s very rare that we won’t be wearing our trusty extensions, meaning that we’ve usually got a lot of length to work with. So, if you’re like us or would love to see what you can do with extensions, here’s the low down on the top trends of 2017 for extra-long hair.
High Ponytails
This is certainly a trend that’s been kicking up a storm this summer after having graced high-end catwalks and celeb magazines alike. A lot of our favourite style icons including Ariana Grande and Gigi Hadid are notorious for rocking the high ponytail. Can we blame them? Certainly not! We’re just as in love with this total girl-boss hairstyle. To get the look, wear yours pretty much at the centre point of the top of your head, but just move it a little bit back so it does naturally fall down the back of your head rather than flopping around the sides. In terms of extensions, the longer the better for this style.
Long and Sleek
Another trend that’s been seen on celebs is the long and sleek look. We’re talking that very long, dead-straight hair with a healthy, glossy shine (but definitely not greasy!). We also refer to this as the ‘Kim Kardashian’ look because, let’s be honest, she totally made this a thing. To recreate the style, you’re again going to want to go for our longer length hair extensions for a statement look.
Loose, Princess Braids
For a little while, it’s all been about the French plaits – but that’s about to change! More and more celebrities and models are opting for looser, romantic plaits that have a total Princess vibe. It’s a beautiful, elegant hairstyle that’s easy to maintain for effortless glamour. For this style, you don’t need super-long hair so it’s not vital you go for our longest length extensions, but you’re definitely going to need at least a little added length and volume! Unlike French braids, you’re going to start plaiting lower down your hair, aiming for around the nape of the neck. Create a loose rather than tight plait, and you can even tease it out a little to maximise the look. Allow strands of hair to come loose and fall naturally around your face and curl the braid over one shoulder.
Crazy Curls
As so often with trends, this does seem kind of contradictory; weren’t we just talking about super straight and now suddenly it’s all about curls? But that’s the beauty of trends! There’s never just one style to follow; you can shop around to find which you like and what works for you. In terms of curls, though beach and flat-iron waves still have their place in the hairstyling world (and in our hearts), tight, voluminous curls have definitely become a big hit this summer. Think Beyoncé, Rhianna and Sarah Jessica Parker. Go wild with your curls! Use our extensions to add length to your hair (remember that curls will make it shorter than it is when it’s straight so you might want to go for our longer lengths) and also for some extra volume. If your hair’s lacking in the volume needed for these super-fun curls you may want to invest in some plumping products. You want your hair to be big for this style, so make sure you give it what it needs!
